2017-10-10 13:31

A fast and unexpected comeback could bring back the seven times champion of the world, Valentino Rossi, to eni Mottorad Gran Prix in German, after an accident suffered on June 5th in Mugello, where he fractured his shinbone and fibula. The doctors initially expected him to recover in 4 to 5 months.

With 11 races still to dispute, Rossi will try to cut down the 104 points of advantage that the Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo, who is also his teammate in Fiat Yamaha and current leader of the championship, has over him. Behind Lorenzo and located in the second place 52 points away is Dani Pedrosa, from Repsol Honda. Never before this accident had Rossi missed a race.

Las week in Misano, Rossi rode his YZF-R1 for the first time after his accident, and today Monday he will be going through a second practice race in Brno, Czech Republic. If the results turn out to be positive, the Italian will be present in the Sachsenring. After this practice race Rossi will have a press conference where he will share his experiences after the accident and his expectations.

But not only Rossi has been the focus of attention for the media these days. The signing of Casey Stoner for LCR Honda has also shared the headline news, who had already ran for them in his rookie year in MotoGP in 2006. The Australian will provide experience and a lot of speed, which will be added to the talent of Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Doviziono, who presently occupy the second and third place respectively of the 2010 Championship.

This way Ducati looses its main star, who was MotoGP World Champion in 2007, with 21 years old with this team. Stoner will put an end to four years under the orders of the Italians.

What did Catalunya’s Grand Prix left?

This past 4th of July the seventh race of the MotoGP 2010 Championship was held in Barcelona, where Jorge Lorenzo won the first place, with a time of 43’22.805. Dani Pedrosa, who came in second place, and Casey Stoner who was third, completed the podium.

The victory represents the third in a row for Lorenzo, and confirms that he could have serious chances to win the championship. If he keeps up with this performance there shouldn’t be reasons for the championships to escape from his hands. This was also his first victory in Barcelona.

He started the race in Montmelo from the pole position, and kept it without problems until the end, with almost five seconds of advantage over Pedrosa, and not loosing his calm against Stoner, who finished second at just two tenths of a second. Now they will compete again on July 18th, in Sachsenring, Germany, where Valentino Rossi could come back.

The Championship ranking shows that Lorenzo has 165 points, Pedrosa 113, Dovizioso 91, Hayden 69, De Puniet 69, Stoner 67, Rossi 61, Spies 59, Melandri 39, Simoncelli 39, Edwards 39, Barbera 34, Espargaro 28, Bautista 25, Capirossi 25, Kallio 24, Aoyama 18, Akiyoshi 4 and Yoshikawa 1.

After Germany, on July 25th the Red Bull Grand Prix will be held in United States, and will mark the mid-point of the season.
